Celazole: Its Properties And Applications

Celazole Polybenzimidazole, Celazole PBI for short, is one of the most used engineering thermoplastic. It is now being used in many industries because of its dynamic properties.
Some of its characteristics are listed below:
• Very good frictional and wear behavior
• Low outgas
• High purity (no ionic contamination)
• Good dielectric properties
• Excellent electric insulating properties
• Very low flammability
• High allowable temperature of work
• Excellent mechanical strength and stiffness
• Highest heat deflection property
• Very low coefficient of thermal expansion
• Very high compressive strength
• Very high plasma resistance
• Excellent wear resistance
• Excellent dimensional stability
Celazole offers best mechanical retention property and highest temperature resistance when compared to any other plastic. It is said to be one of the cleanest plastic available.
Applications:
? Used in semiconductors for oxide etching, spin coating and sputtering.
? In petrochemical industry for making seals, bearing, brushes, etc.
? In chemical process
? In industries for soldering, glass cutting and glass making
? Used in aerospace- ablative heat shields, leading edges and nose cones.
? For making insulator brushes and contact seals
? For making ultrasonic measurement devices
? Electrical connectors
? Light bulb contact parts
Celazole, with its unique properties is being adapted to many industries so that it can bring ultimate solution, unlike other plastics.
